One of our reputed Client's in Toronto is looking to hire Linux systems administrator .

The individual we are looking for is highly focused on end customers satisfaction, and will demonstrate strong motivation to learn and to grow with our client.Reporting to the VP of Professional Services, the candidate shall perform daily tasks as assigned such as (but not limited to):

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in requirements gathering and analysis.
  • Coordinate with internal and external planning, operations and support teams for project implementation.
  • Configuration of different network elements, Switches, Routers, Firewalls and IPS’s.
  • ‪‪Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation (Architecture, Operations Procedures, and Specifications).
  • ‪‪Provide technical consultation to both internal and external teams.
  • Manage the network requirements to meet the business demands of our customers
  • ‪‪Maintain central database of both public and private IP address space used in Customer network infrastructure.
  • ‪‪Provide network infrastructure capacity and performance reporting and planning.
  • ‪‪Maintain standards for a datacenter infrastructure and operational effectiveness and ensure availability of networks in Production, Development and Disaster Recovery environments across multiple datacentres.
  • ‪‪Responsible for leading third line support for incident and request management.
  • ‪‪Operational support for LAN/WAN related network incidents (investigation of element and link failures, network routing, performance, security).
  • ‪‪Track appropriate information and complete ticket, outage and post mortem records as necessary.
  • ‪‪Completes periodic routine maintenance and daily tasks, tracking results and resolving problems as appropriate.
  • ‪Provide on-call coverage as required.
  • Enforce security of all systems by monitoring for vulnerabilities, installing security patches, and following best practices for hardening;
  • Work with monitoring tools and log files to pro-actively identify problems, and take action in order to avoid service interruptions, and to reduce down time when service disruptions occur;
  • Assist the IT Help Desk team with Linux user level support issues which they cannot resolve on their own;
  • Perform server backup and restore tasks
  • Other duties as needed;

‪‪‪ Technical Skills

  • Excellent understanding of Linux server system administration (including Active Directory), and networking concepts and technologies (routers, firewalls, VPN, etc.)
  • Demonstrable knowledge, skill and expertise in the following technologies: FortiNet products: FortiGate (administration of security policies re: web content filtering, IDS/IPS, application control), FortiManager (centralized management of all FortiGates including configuration management), and FortiAnlyzer (general reporting, analysis and diagnostics in support of incidents and investigations)
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with servers (physical and virtual design) as well as different operating systems (Windows and Linux)
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in enterprise data center infrastructure
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in technical architecture design (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, protocol flows) and hands-on experience with middleware server components (e.g., HP)
  • Experience in the implementation and support of high availability environments
  • Excellent network troubleshooting skills, efficient problem-solving methodology‪‪‪Strong time management skills and work ethic (highly motivated) to manage multiple projects/accountabilities
  • A strong sense of accountability towards objectives
  • Able to work off hours during Customer maintenance change windows and participate in on-call rotation support
  • Ability to work effectively in a high volume environment that is subject to frequent change.
