Blending Operator
Job Description
Studenttimes Staffing Solutions is looking to hire Blending Operators, morning shift, for an esteemed client in Arthur-Guelph in meat processing industry.
1. Position Purpose:
To ensure that the meat is shoveled out of the tanks, scaled, and weighed to ensure that it matches the appropriate Manufacturing Order (MO). Also responsible for operating the grinder/blender/loading racks/unloading racks/inspection table/garbage/injector operator/chopper/tumbler/big blender/small blender/smokehouse/dumper/flaker machines and clean all equipment daily.
2. Qualifications:
• 6 months – 1-year prior experience within the meat industry preferably poultry
• English – good reading and writing skills to ensure comprehension and successfully pass the written and practical pallet truck test and read manufacturing orders (MO)
• Math skills-good numerical skills in order to understand production standards
3. Specific Accountabilities:
a) Obtain MO from lead hand and read the manufacturing orders (MO) and follow the instructions listed.
b) Shovel the meat out of buckets and containers into tanks to ensure it matches the MO
c) Push tanks to scales and weigh them according to the MO
d) Push tanks containing meat to the appropriate area within the kitchen
e) Ensure proper weight of tanks
f) Deliver tanks to cutter operator as directed
g) Daily wash up buckets and tanks
h) Clean equipment and defrost room
i) Organize the defrost room
j) Operate the grinder/blender/dumper/flaker machines
k) Shovel the meat out of buckets and into the tanks attached to the blender/grinder
l) Daily direction from lead hand and supervisor
m) Lock out all equipment when setting up and or cleaning
n) Working safely and in accordance with company safety policies and procedures, in addition to OHSA regulations
o) Daily cleaning up of area and/or department
p) Comply with the CFIA regulations
q) Follow the Company’s Quality Assurance Program in relation to this position i.e. HACCP program etc.
r) Other duties as may be assigned.
4. Working Conditions:
This position requires constant exposure to the cold and noise. Interruption and distractions are a normal part of this position.
5. Work Hazards:
All hazards are conducive to plant environment/equipment.
6. Machines and Equipment Operated:
Must be familiar with all machinery and equipment within their department.
7. Confidentiality:
Regular work involves little or no contact with confidential data or information.
